Mixing in the right circles...

The saying 'mixing in the right circles' may spring to mind the business sector and networking opportunities or even hob-nobing with the 'in crowd' at school, but I use 'mixing in the right circles' as more of a design term...circles are an aesthetically pleasing shape which is brilliant to add into your decor.  Calming, symmetrical, soft and never ending circles are the baked beans to my toast. Bringing circular design into a space will instantly create a 'spy hole effect'.  For some reason I find people just have to look at circle! Whether there is some psychological reason for this I'm not sure. May be humans are used to viewing everything through a round camera lens or feel a circle draws them in - portholes, spy holes, plug holes and worm holes are all spherical after all - so circular design also has the added benefit of being liked. Kat Lahr in 'Parallelism Of Cyclicality' said: “There is something particularly special and personal about the circle and how its curves comfortably rule every aspect of our lives.” This quote sums up why circular design is an important element for creating a positive and enriching atmosphere. Adding circular design on your website or in your customer waiting room could be a good idea and for interior design there is no shortage of decor ideas.  Circular mirrors are highly popular - fish eye reflection or convex finishes give a flattering look to the viewer and creating a cluster of circular mirrors on your walls creates the look of bubbles floating in the air or for a more edgy idea small, black mirrors could denote holes in the wall to another land (or bullet holes!) The look circular design creates is intriguing and you don't have to stop with circular mirrors - sofas, artwork and light fittings are easy to tie in with the theme.  It is true that life is summed up by the shape of a circle and if you don't believe me then let's revisit the lyrics from that classic song from The Lion King: "It's the Circle of Life And it moves us all Through despair and hope Through faith and love Till we find our place On the path unwinding In the Circle The Circle of Life" This may seem flippant but it is simply true - there is something all important about the circle that appeals to people on many different levels so if you are looking for a different design to wow your business clients, customers or simply add harmony into your home, consider circles in your design.  Vintage Vibe have embraced this with their selection of stock - will you?
